International Art Photography Contest winners announced

NDO – A ceremony was held in Hanoi by Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA) on December 2 to honour 88 outstanding photos from the ninth International Art Photography Contest.
The honoured photos were selected from 11,449 entries submitted by 958 photographers from 36 countries and territories around the world.
The contest, which was sponsored by the Federation of International Art Photography (FIAP), was divided into four themes: portrait, daily life, landscape and freestyle. For each theme, the VAPA presented one gold, two silver and three bronze medals and five consolation prizes; meanwhile the FIAP awarded one gold, two silver and three bronze prizes and five honoured certificates.
At this year’s contest, Vietnamese photographers won four gold medals at all four themes. For portrait, FIAP’s gold prize went to the photo ‘Phu nu Thai’ (Thai ethnic women) by Vu Duy Boi, while two works titled ‘Tuyet voi dao Truong Sa’ (Wonderful Truong Sa archipalego) by Nguyen A and ‘Tu tam’ (From the heart) by Bui Viet Dong received gold medals from VAPA for the landscape and daily life categories, respectively.
At the freestyle event, photographer Tran Tuan Viet was honoured with the VAPA’s gold prize with his photo ‘Swan Lake’.
The biennial contest has become a great playground for all photographers and photo lovers around the world.
The entries promoted the image of the lands, people and cultures of many countries and territories around the world as well as contributing to the building of friendship and mutual understandings among the nations.
The event also affirmed the prestige of Vietnamese photography as well as the role of the VAPA in the international arena.
On the same day, an exhibition featuring the most outstanding photos from the contest opened in Hanoi. The event will last until the end of December.
