Special stamp set featuring General Vo Nguyen Giap issued

NDO – A special stamp set commemorating 107th birthday of General Vo Nguyen Giap has officially been released at a ceremony held in Quang Binh province on August 25.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended the event and signed the decision to issue the stamp collection.
Designed by painter Nguyen Du, of the Vietnam Post Corporation, the set includes one stamp and one block, featuring a portrait of General Giap with a friendly smile and dressed in the military uniform of the Vietnam's People Army from the 1970s.
The background of the stamp is the image of the historical victory of Dien Bien Phu, one of the brilliant triumphs in the struggle for national independence and freedom.
According to the Minister of Information and Communication, the issue of a special stamp set on General Vo Nguyen Giap not only aims to honour his great contributions but to also contribute to communicating and educating the Vietnamese people, particularly younger generations, on patriotism and the country’s history.
The stamp measures 43x32mm and is printed in a VND3,000 denomination, while the block has a value of VND12,000. The collection will be available at post offices nationwide until June 30, 2019.
General Vo Nguyen Giap – Commander in Chief of the Vietnam People’s Army, was born in August 25, 1911. He was a military genius, as well as an outstanding student of, and close friend to, the late President Ho Chi Minh.
