Ho Chi Minh City Days launched in Osaka, Japan

NDO – Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Dinh La Thang, and Vice-Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, Le Thanh Liem, cut the ribbon to launch the “HCM City Days in Osaka 2017” in Japan’s Osaka city on April 13.

As part of the ongoing Japan visit made by a high-level HCM City delegation, the two-day event aims to mark a decade of friendly relations between HCM City and Osaka Prefecture and 20 years of friendly and cooperative ties between HCM City and Osaka city.

The Osaka public and tourists will be entertained by a lot of cultural and arts activities performed by HCM City artists, including traditional music performances, circus shows, an Ao dai (Vietnam’s traditional long dress) fashion show, martial art performances and an exhibition showcasing handicraft and fine arts products.

Photos featuring foreign affairs, economic cooperation and cultural exchange between HCM City and Osaka city are also being displayed during the event.

In his opening remarks, Permanent Vice-Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee, Le Thanh Liem, hailed the HCM City-Osaka ties as a common spotlight in relations between the two countries.

He expressed his wish that the HCM City Days would provide Osaka residents with new and interesting photos and experiences about the economic, cultural and arts picture of Vietnam as a whole and HCM City in particular.

As a result of the special ties between the two countries, Secretary of the HCM City Party Committee, Dinh La Thang, chose Japan as the first destination for his foreign working trip in 2017, Liem said, adding that Osaka was also the first foreign city in 2017 to host the HCM City Days.

Speaking at the event, Wada AYa, a director in charge of Osaka’s foreign affairs, affirmed that Osaka and HCM City have implemented a number of comprehensive and practical cooperation activities, with cultural and arts exchanges contributing significantly to fostering ties between the two localities.
