NDO – The art of portraiture flourished in Hanoi in the 1960s and 70s with around 400 portrait artists estimated to be in the capital city. Half of a century has passed and the number has dropped to under 10. One of them is Nguyen Bao Nguyen, an 80-year-old artist who has had 60 years of working in the trade.

NDO – An exhibition introducing the Mother Goddesses Worship culture of Vietnam opened in the Seoul capital of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on May 20th, as part of activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and the RoK.
NDO – The Nishimura Masanari Library, a special collection of books, magazines and maps produced by late Japanese scholar Nishimura Masanari, made its debut at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), Vietnam National University - Hanoi on May 20.

NDO – At his premier in filmography, Vietnamese young songwriter and singer Pham Hong Phuoc won the ‘Best Actor’ award at the ASEAN International Film Festival & Awards (AIFFA Award) 2017 for his role in the film ‘The Way Station’. On this occasion, Phuoc granted Nhan Dan Monthly an interview to share his experiences in filming.
NDO – The Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee, in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), held a ceremony in Ha Long city on May 19 to receive a certificate recognising Bai Tu Long National Park as the 38th Heritage Park of ASEAN.
NDO - Heritage items recognised by UNESCO will be highlighted at the biennial Hue Festival of which the next edition is set to take place from April 24 to May 2, 2018, according to tentative programming announced by the local government.
