NDO - The government will conduct a general survey in March next year to collect data about economic establishments to assess Vietnam’s current socio-economic development and formulate plans for the years ahead.

The census also applies to administrative and Party agencies, social organisations, trade associations, service agencies, branches and representative offices of foreign enterprises, religious facilities and foreign non-governmental organisations in Vietnam.

The study excludes individual facilities in agriculture, forestry and fisheries, whose information was already collected in a 2016 rural and agricultural survey.

The census will collect data in six areas, namely basic information, labour and income, business performance, information technology application, access to capital and specialised information.

The preliminary results are expected to be made public in December 2017 while the official data will be released in the third quarter of 2018.
